So…for those of you that know me, this news might come as a shock to you:
I am no longer using a planner.
There. I said it out loud. It is scary and freeing all at the same time.
For as long as I can remember, I have used planners. I have tried every planner under the sun and finally found one that completely fits my crazy life. Then, I heard a podcast and an answer to a question changed my life.
The question was simply “what app are you currently using”. The guest on the podcast said “Trello”.
Now to be honest, I didn’t even know how to spell the name of this app. I had to google it for a quite a little bit before I came across it.
And it has changed EVERYTHING!
Trello was designed to be a project management app. I am currently playing around with this for my work but right now it has been so helpful for my personal life and schedule.
Basically, Trello is made up of boards. Each board , you can create different lists and then cards underneath them. Here is a look at my weekly board:
As you can see, Wednesday is first. That is because I have the current day appear first. I put in my schedule as well as things that need to be done. Each thing listed is a “card”. The great part is that in those cards, you can put labels, to do lists, descriptions, etc. This allows me to see a brief overview of my day/week but when I click on each one, I can see what all I needed to do.
The best part of it is that I can easily drag a task to another day. I LOVE this because a lot of times I am a little too optimistic about my day and I put tons of things on my list. This allows me to move it from the morning time slot that I have or to the afternoon or even to another day which such ease.
And it is FREE.
Well…I’m currently using the free version. I am going to research the paid one in a couple of weeks and see if it is worth paying for (you get to synch it with your calendar, google drive, evernote, etc.). For right now….baby steps!
Check back later for more updates and if it is still working! So far I am 2 weeks without a planner which is the LONGEST I have gone since I have known how to write!
Have you used Trello?? Do you have another app that has taken the place of your planner?? If so, leave a comment!!
